Roseanne Quinn Ebel

December 22, 2020

CHARLOTTE – Roseanne Quinn Ebel, 79, of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from a catastrophic aortic dissection.

Roseanne was born on April 21, 1941 to William James Quinn and Marie Duffy Quinn in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Red Bank Catholic High School, she attended nursing school and then discovered her true passion, education, and went on to teach for many years.

In 1966 she met Dallas Duane Ebel, the absolute love of her life, while living in California. They wed in 1967, going on to have three children, their twins, Duffy-Marie and Dallas, Jr. and their youngest, Kerrianne.
When Roseanne had her twins, she decided to dedicate her life to be the most loving and wonderful mother. If you knew Roseanne, you knew immediately she adored her three children, and her husband of 53 years, and especially her grandbabies, Oliver and Hayden. She also loved her children’s spouses as if they were her own.

Roseanne had the most amazing smile and made everyone around her feel welcome and so loved. She also had a deep appreciation for quality education and held numerous volunteer positions within the Lexington District Five School community in Irmo, South Carolina, in which her three children grew up attending. In 1979, Roseanne and Dallas moved to Irmo, South Carolina, from Red Bank, New Jersey, where they raised their children and remained until April of 2019, when they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Roseanne was predeceased by her father, William James Quinn and her mother, Marie Duffy Quinn.

She is survived by her husband, Dallas Duane Ebel Sr., her children Duffy-Marie Ebel Bengel (Scott), Dallas Duane Ebel, Jr. (Lisa) and Kerrianne Bridget Hartell (Matt), her grandchildren Hayden Henry Hartell (6) and Oliver James Hartell (5). She is also survived by her sister, Virginia Quinn Hesse, and her brother, William James Quinn, Jr. as well as five nieces and one nephew.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Levine Institute, c/o Atrium Health Foundation, 208 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 in honor and in memory of too many family members affected by cancer.

Due to the unprecedented COVID pandemic, unfortunately, the family will have a private service at Myers Park United Methodist Church on Monday. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

DEAR Dallas, I am so very, very sorry over the loss of your BELOVED Roseanne. My heart goes out to you all (Duffy Marie, Dallas, Kerrianne and Bill Quinn). What a TREMENDOUS loss. It did not matter how much time went by that we had not seen each other -then we would meet by accident and talk like we had never been apart. It was ALWAYS family and she would bring me up to date on all of you. She LOVED you all so much. There is a huge void left with her gone, but you all are such an INCREDIBLE legacy to the life she lived. You all will be in my prayers and thoughts and very close to my heart.
LOVE from all the Mullaneys (Terry, Mary Beth, Stephen, Cathleen and Brendan)

Emmy and I are so saddened by your mom’s sudden death. I’m hoping you will know how much people here in Irmo thought of her, and admired her contributions to the community in so many ways, plus she and your dad raising a fine family.
We are praying for peace and comfort for you during this painful time, but know love is being sent your way by us.

    Dear Ebel Family,
Heartbroken for each of you on the loss of your wife and mom. Roseanne was a beautiful, caring, unique person and my dear friend for more then 60 years. Oh how she loved each of you! You were her life and she was so proud of you! Dallas, I can honestly say that I have never known a couple more in love! Duffy Marie, Dallas Jr, and Kerrianne, your Mom adored each of you. Each time she was with Hayden and Oliver she was thrilled and cherished every visit! Thinking back on the many experiences we shared-high school, going to the beach, our apartment in California and our weddings-one week apart-with each memory comes a smile! She found joy everywhere and with her engaging personality and great sense of humor-her joy was contagious! She made everyone around her smile!!
The void that Ro left will never be filled but for me....I know that I am a better person because she touched my life.
With all my love and prayers,
    Eileen
