Michael Phillip Burrell

CHARLOTTE – Michael Phillip Burrell, 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Elmcroft Assisted Living.  Michael was born on July 18, 1937 to the late Eugene Burrell and Velma Frazier Burrell Clark.  He grew up in Erwin, Tennessee which held a special place in his heart. He moved his family to Charlotte in 1964 to work with Fiber Industries.  Michael later started his own machine shop, Micro-Bore, which he operated until his retirement.

Michael was actively involved in the beloved Steele Creek Community where he served as a volunteer fireman and a member of the Steele Creek Lodge.  He was a member of Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church for 51 years, where he served as a Deacon, Elder and Sunday School Superintendent.

Michael is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis Street Burrell, who was also his high school sweetheart; two daughters, Donna Burrell Hinson and her husband, Gary and Michelle Burrell McGrath and her husband, Shawn; son, Mark Phillip Burrell and his wife, Dana; grandchildren, Zach Hinson and his wife, Sarah, Hilary Manuliova and her husband, Sergei, Hannah McGrath, Patrick McGrath, Ryan Burrell, Caspian Burrell and Elizabeth Burrell; great-grandchildren, Ellie Hinson, and Danya Manuliov.

 Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 AM at Central Steele Creek Presbyterian on Friday.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to their friends and family for the outreach and support during Michael’s illness.  A special thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Elmcroft and his Hospice team.
