William “Chip” Carroll Wright, Jr. of Charlotte died Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House, surrounded by family and friends. Chip was born in Charlotte on February 27, 1948, and is the son of the late William Carroll Wright, Sr. and Hazel Scarborough Wright. He was a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School and St. Andrews Presbyterian College, where he earned a BA in business administration. Chip also served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Chip’s diverse career included working in the banking industry, property management, and residential and commercial real estate. In his youth, he was a member of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department. As a real estate broker (GRI), Chip enjoyed 20 years at Prudential Carolinas Realty and retired in 2015 from Helen Adams Realty.

Chip is survived by his aunt, Helen Ruffin Scarborough; first cousins Paul and Mary Kay Scarborough, Sallie Scarborough and Vernon Scarborough; cousins Charlotte Ferebee, Katie Caldwell, Ruffin Scarborough, and Anabelle and Rainey Scarborough.

Chip’s life was rich with many dear friends whom he considered family. They share fond memories of Chip’s quick wit, infectious laugh and ability to find humor in every situation, devotion to friends and family and selfless, big heart. He was a blessing to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service to celebrate Chip’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Christ Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte. There will be a reception for family and friends following the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Thompson (children’s home), 6800 Saint Peter’s Lane, Matthews, NC 28105.
