Pauline C. Carr

Pauline C. Carr, 97, died Monday, October 24, 2016 at CMC Pineville. She was born December 28, 1918 to Elizabeth and Paul Chidester. Mrs. Carr grew up in Hamden, CT and attended Hamden High School and Quinnipiac College. She met and married James A. Carr in 1941. They had three children, James A. Carr, Jr., Michael P. Carr and Elizabeth M. Carr. Her husband predeceased her November 26, 1955 and she went on to raise and educate all three of her children as a single mother. Mrs. Carr had a successful 25-year career with Atlantic Richfield Oil Company in Charlotte, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. She returned to Charlotte in 1984.

Pauline was a member of St. Patrick Cathedral Parish and recently attended St. Gabriel Parish. She has lived at Southminster Retirement Community since 2000.

Mrs. Carr is survived by her three children, James Carr and his wife, Karen of Sunset Beach, NC, Michael Carr and his wife, Cissy of Charlotte, NC and Elizabeth Carr and Bill O’Brien of Silver Springs, MD; five grandchildren, James F. Carr and his wife, Teree, Matthew Carr and his wife Hilary, Kara C. Barth and her husband, Wayne, Megan C. Henry and her husband, Michael and Emily E. O’Brien and her husband, Thijs; and eight great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Carr will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church with Rev. Frank O’Rourke officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:30 PM at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
