James Photi Axiotis
October 18, 2026
CHARLOTTE – James P. Axiotis, a television producer, film maker, and creative, passed away suddenly in his home in Charlotte, NC at the age of 63. James was accompanied by his beloved dog, Pippa on Sunday, October 18, 2026, when he passed.
Born in Athens, Greece, James was a Greek and Armenian, working as an American television and film producer, writer, director, humanitarian advocate, and founder of Legitimate Son Productions. His adoption and movement to America at a young age influenced much of his later career and humanitarian advocacy. His career spanned more than four decades across network television, documentary film, reality programming, digital media, independent production, and international storytelling.
Although proud of his work and ability to create over the years, he most loved to tell stories and help others share theirs as well. Survived by his three daughters, Anna, Sophia, and Georgia, James left the world as a well-loved man who was known by many for his, in proper Greek fashion, incredible zest for life, lively humor, fancy folk dancing and immense love and gratitude for others.
Funeral services for James will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 5108 Kuykendall Road, Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. The service will be livestreamed at: https://www.stnektarios.org/new_webcast.html , St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, Charlotte, NC - YouTube, Facebook for those unable to attend in person. Interment will be at St. Basil Orthodox Cemetery in Castle Hayne, NC on Friday, October 23.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of James to Children of War Foundation, 21 E. Glenoaks Blvd, Suite 228e, Glendale, CA 91207.
May His Memory Be Eternal.

Dear Anna, Sophia, and Georgia,
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your beloved father, James. As you know, your dad and I grew up together at St. Nicholas in Northridge, and I have many fond memories of your Dad and our years there. James was very proud of his Greek Orthodox heritage and faith, and he was equally proud of all three of you. I always enjoyed hearing him talk about your achievements; he spoke with such excitement and loved each of you so very much. He was always eager to share the latest news about your trips, your accomplishments, and activities. I will never forget when your father volunteered and flew to Kiev in war-torn Ukraine on behalf of Children of War to shepherd and deliver tons of much-needed medical supplies to the hospitals there. He was truly brave-a wonderful hero-and without him, those supplies would not have made it to the hospitals in Kiev, Ukraine. His volunteerism and philanthropy with Children of War will not be forgotten. The global community in need has lost a wonderful caring person. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May his memory be eternal. With deepest sympathy, Peter Georgilas and Family, Massachusetts.
