Christine Fowler Price
January 31, 2026
Christine Fowler Price, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away in 2026 after a long and courageous battle against a rare autoimmune disease. She was born on January 18, 1960, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Robert Fowler (who preceded her in death in 2014) and Helen Fowler.
Christine grew up in Charlotte alongside her two sisters, Amy Prasol and Vickie Bellai, in a home filled with family, faith, and love. She graduated from Garinger High School and continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte on a Bonnie Cone Scholarship, an achievement she carried with pride throughout her life.
In 1976, Christine met the love of her life, Joe Price, on the Waverly swim team. What began as a shared passion and friendship, grew into a life long partnership when they were married in 1982. Together, they built a family rooted in devotion, laughter, and unwavering support. Christine and Joe welcomed three children: Joanna, Leah, and Jacob.
After the birth of her second child, Christine made the deliberate and proud decision to leave the workforce, where she had worked in Human Resources at First Union Bank, to devote herself fully to what she often called her “real job”: raising her children. She poured her heart into their lives by volunteering at their schools, driving them everywhere, cheering them on from the sidelines, and making sure they always knew how deeply they were loved.
Christine’s life was defined by service. She played a key role in reigniting the children's basketball program at Sharon Presbyterian Church and volunteered extensively with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, including participating in an international mission trip to Cambodia. Whatever cause she committed to, she approached it with full energy, compassion, and wholehearted dedication. Her passion for service and caring for others extended to mental health advocacy, reflected in the Christine F. Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services at UNC Charlotte, as well as her deep involvement in church life through the Christine Price Outreach Center.
A lifelong sports fan, Christine was fiercely loyal to her Carolina Panthers, never once doubting their chances to win on any given Sunday. She was equally devoted to the UNC Charlotte 49ers, Niner Nation, across all sports. She loved being present for her children’s activities as well, whether it was swimming, soccer, school plays, softball, or tennis, always there, always encouraging.
In 2012, Christine was diagnosed with Paraneoplastic Cerebellar Degeneration (PCD), a rare condition with a typical life expectancy of two years. She defied those odds for more than a decade, entering her fifteenth year with the disease in 2026. Throughout her long battle, Christine remained a shining example of resilience, positivity, humor, and grace. Her spirit never dimmed, and she inspired everyone around her with her strength and attitude.
Christine found joy in life’s everyday pleasures, from watching General Hospital and Property Brothers, traveling from the mountains and beaches of North Carolina to as far as Antarctica, and playing games with friends and family. Skyjo and Red Letter were among her favorites. She especially cherished time spent with her four grandchildren, Lucas, Addison, Wyatt, and Hannah, who brought her endless joy.
Christine is survived by her loving husband, her three children, her four grandchildren, her mother, and her sisters.
Christine Fowler Price will be remembered for her faith, generosity, resilience, and fierce love for her family and community. Her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched, and she will be deeply missed.
A funeral service to celebrate the beautiful life of Christine Price will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Sharon Presbyterian Church. A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary. A reception will follow the service.
To honor Christine’s lifelong commitment to service, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, the Christine F. Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, or the Christine Price Outreach Center at Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral and Cremation Services, 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com

My heartfelt condolences to all of Chris’s family. I will always be grateful for knowing Chris and regret we lost contact through the years. She was a Godsend to me. I remember her calling me to see if I was coming to circle at our church. I confided in her that I needed to go back to work as an RN and needed to find someone to help take care of my young children. She told me she had been thinking about doing some childcare and wanted to help with my kids. What a gift she was to my family in a time that she was needed. I so remember little Leah and Joanna as two cutie pies. What a beautiful legacy she leaves so many. Oh, the ripple effects of her life. Love and prayers, Anne Washam

So very sorry to read about Christine's passing. But, I read it and read it again to take in just how much she impacted lives and how tough she was in fighting the disease that may have slowed her but did not stop her love for living. Joe and Christine are proud alumni of UNC Charlotte and together championed student life, campus life and strengthening student support, academic and athletics programs that continue to shape the Charlotte experience. What a legacy. What a life.

Aunt Chris was an amazing person, inside and out. Many of my fondest adolescent memories are because of her organizing opportunities for myself and my siblings to take part in different events. Namely, VBS. I used to enjoy attending and volunteering at her church's VBS efforts alongside Leah. Even after her diagnosis and battle with the debilitating illness, Aunt Chris remained faithful and a light to all who surrounded her. Aunt Chris will be missed deeply. Sending my love and prayers to our family and close friends of Aunt Chris.

Dear Joe, Johanna, Leah and Jacob,
I am so sad to hear about Chris’s death. She was one of the wonderful people we don’t get to meet very often. Smart, funny, loving, but most of all truly loving and good. I have many ,many memories of our time together, and I can’t think of one where she was cross. Her heart will be deeply missed. All my love to you all.
