Theodora Politis Tsoulos
January 21, 2026
CHARLOTTE – Theodora Politis Tsoulos passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, warmth, and quiet strength. Born in Agia Vlaherna, Greece to Elias and Eleni Politis, she was one of nine children.
In 1958, she married her husband, Sam, in his village Psilovrachos, beginning a marriage that would span 68 years. Together they welcomed their daughter, Dimitra “Tula,” in Greece before immigrating to the United States in 1967. A devoted homemaker, Theodora poured her heart into caring for her family, her home, and her community.
She found joy in gardening and flowers, was famous for her homemade bread, and spent many cherished hours baking with the ladies of her church. A faithful member of the Philoptochos Society at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, she was deeply committed to her faith and service to others.
Theodora’s greatest pride was her grandson George, to whom she devoted her life. She was endlessly proud of the man he became. Known for her ever-present smile, love of social gatherings, and deep affection for children—often expressed through a joyful squeeze or pinch—she made everyone feel seen and loved.
Theodora is survived by her husband, Sam Tsoulos; daughter, Tula Kourakos and her husband, Jimmy; grandson, George Kourakos; brothers, Pete Politis and Angelo Politis; brother-in-law, John Tsoulos (Vicki); sisters-in-law, Anthoula Masouras (Pete), Fay Pitsikoulis (Stacy), and Anna Tsoulos; her koumbari; her godchildren, many nieces and nephews, who all adored her. She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the love she so freely gave.
Theodora was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, sisters and sisters-in-law, Gregory Politis (Konstandoula), Bill Politis (Chrysoula), Panagiota Katsanos (Demetre), Chris Politis (Aphrodite), Athena Vambakas (Leonidas), Steve Politis (Pinelopi), Elpida Politis and Sophia Politis.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to be made to Agia Elpis Philoptochos Society at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 600 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203 or Panagia Prousiotissa Chapel at Elatos Park, 124 Jim Parker Drive, Monroe, NC 28110.

Heartfelt condolences for the loss of θεία Θεοδωρα, who was a very special lady. Whenever we visited our family in Charlotte, North Carolina, Theodora would always welcome us with open arms and her homemade cooking. We would always chuckle about how special her pita was — it was made with so much love.
Her deep love for family, generosity, and warm sense of humour will be truly missed. She had a beautiful way of making everyone feel at home, and those memories will stay with us always. May her memory be eternal.
To our family in Charlotte, we love you and miss you. .
