Hilda Belle Lee Hull

Hilda Belle Lee Hull of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at the age of 87.

Hilda was born to Robert Edward Lee and Kathleen Harvey Lee on May 26, 1938, in Campbell County, VA. She graduated from Rustburg High School as valedictorian in 1955.

On August 23, 1958, Hilda married her husband, Allen Moncure Hull, at First Baptist Church in Richmond, VA. They relocated to Charlotte to begin their life together, where they were later blessed with three children. Upon moving to Charlotte, she transferred to Queens College, where she received her B.S. in Chemistry in 1960.

Hilda worked for Celanese Corp. in the chemistry lab and technical information section upon graduating from Queens until early 1964, when she and her husband opened Hull Manufacturing Corporation. They owned and operated the textile manufacturing plant until 1995.

She was a member of various clubs, including The Junior Women’s Club, Children’s Theater, Charlotte Garden Club, Wing Haven, and Myers Park Country Club. She was also a very active member of Myers Park Baptist Church, serving as an elementary teacher, altar committee chair, communion committee chair, member of the Missionary Round Table, wedding director, deacon, secretary to the Board of Deacons and its executive committee, and a member of the Fifth Dimension Sunday School class.

One of the great loves of Hilda’s life was cooking. She always enjoyed preparing wonderful meals for various gatherings. Her recipes are cherished among her family and close friends and will be used for years to come. She also enjoyed reading, puzzles, gardening, and time at their beach house in Seabrook, SC.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Christine Lee Hull; sons, Allen Moncure Hull, Jr., and Robert Harrison Hull; grandchildren, Joshua Robert Hull, Elizabeth Claire Hull, Ian Moncure Hull, Robert Harrison Hull, Jr., and Addison Jane Hull; and her brother, John Edward Lee.

She was predeceased by her husband, Allen Moncure Hull; father, Robert Lee; mother, Kathleen Lee; sisters, Addie Lillian Lee and Jane Lee Williamson; and brother, William Martin Lee.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Brookdale Carriage Club for keeping Hilda comfortable in her final years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Myers Park Baptist Church, 1900 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207 on Saturday, March 14, 2026, with Rev. Steve Shoemaker officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service.
