Sarah Reagan "Sally" Klintworth

November 18, 2025

Sarah Reagan "Sally" Klintworth was born on September 4, 1936, to the late William Taylor and Mary Hazel Reagan. She lived in several communities in Western North Carolina, where her father worked as a civil engineer for the NC State Highway Department.

The family later moved to Asheville, NC, where they lived in a number of neighborhoods before eventually settling in West Asheville, in the Malvern Hills community.

Because of her sister Anne's extended time spent in bed, Sally often sat with her, drawing pictures and writing stories-many of which were turned into booklets by Anne, Sally, and their brother, Billy. All three were talented and creative artists, even as children. Anne and Sally later developed a love for genealogy, tracing their lineage back to the American Revolution.

Sally attended Asheville city schools, Vance Hall Fletcher and Lee H. Edwards High School, from which she graduated in 1954. She majored in art at Mars Hill College under Joe Chris Robertson. She later transferred to Furman University, where she met the late Edward Dennis "Dutch" Klintworth while attending Northgate Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. They were married on September 14, 1958.

Sally attended or was a member of several Baptist churches throughout North and South Carolina, including West Asheville Baptist; Northgate Baptist; Fairview Baptist in Greer, SC; Taylors First Baptist in Taylors, SC; Pritchard Memorial Baptist in Charlotte, NC; and Providence Baptist in Charlotte, NC.

Sally had many dear friends in the Asheville, Greenville, and Charlotte areas. She cherished her husband, Dutch; and her three sons, the late James Daniel "Dan" (Lorrain), Edward Michael "Mike," and Steven Andrew "Steve" (Robin) Klintworth. She also adored her grandchildren-Kristy Mason (Lee), Cayce Harvley, Sam (Erika), and Ben Klintworth-as well as her eight great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, husband, and eldest son, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Anne Reagan Haines and William Shelton Reagan, and by her great-grandson, Anthony Steven Lee "Tony" Neal.

Although we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is forever reunited with her husband, Dutch, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Taylors First Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylors, SC. A memorial service will follow on Thursday, December 4, at 2:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC. The memorial service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. Contributions in Sally's honor may be made to Providence Baptist Church (Charlotte, NC), The Salvation Army (Charlotte, NC), Viewmont Baptist Church (Hickory, NC), or Key Life Network (Maitland, FL).

Sally and Dutch were such a special couple to me. I miss seeing them, however, I know Dutch was waiting for her at the pearly gates and Sally is happy to be back with Dutch. My prayers for the family as they adjust to life without Sally.
