Eileen Gloria Lozeau

October 11, 2025
CHARLOTTE – Eileen G. Lozeau passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, who resided in Cuthbertson Village, and for a period at Asbury (Aldersgate CCRC) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Eileen was born on June 29, 1936, in Salem, Massachusetts, to the late Emile Demers and Eva Demers (née St. Laurent). She attended St. Jean D'Arc Catholic High School in Salem and then went on to nursing school at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts. While attending nursing school, she met her husband, Robert V. Lozeau of Gardner, Massachusetts. She began her nursing career at Salem Hospital, and shortly after, on June 15, 1958, she and Bob married and began their long, loving marriage of 67 years. Together, they raised four children: Cindy Lozeau, Michael Lozeau, Kevin Lozeau, and Susan Reed (née Lozeau).
Eileen worked off and on at various hospitals throughout the 1960s and 1970s but devoted herself to raising her growing family. She spent many happy years raising her four kids, first in Peabody, Massachusetts, and then in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Eileen's infectious laugh was a constant presence at home, and she would never pass up an opportunity to enjoy a day of shopping for clothes.
After the children were grown, Eileen and Bob continued their migration south, spending 20 happy years in Madison, Connecticut. Eileen was an avid tennis player, enjoying playing doubles with her friends. During retirement, she and Bob were enthusiastic travelers, spending many adventurous weeks at sea cruising different parts of the world. It was during this period she excelled at playing Scrabble online and with family.
In 2011, Eileen and Bob permanently gave up the snow and cold winters and relocated to Aiken, South Carolina, and then, in 2019, took up residence at the Aldersgate retirement community in Charlotte. Always quick with a smile and eager to meet new people, Eileen quickly made friends at Aldersgate and brought a smile to staff and friends, even with the many challenges she confronted with health issues over the last few years.
Eileen is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; her four children; eight grandchildren – Erin, Brian, Matthew, Jessica, Joanne, Zoe, Eva, and Julian – and one great-granddaughter, Eloise.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Aldersgate Chapel, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. A reception will follow the service in the Aldersgate Clubroom.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made in Eileen’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association, or Aldersgate UMRC “RESIDENT ASSISTANCE FUND”.
