Magnolia Denise Simmons

October 4, 2025
CHARLOTTE – Magnolia “Maggie” Denise Simmons was born into heaven on October 4, 2025, at 2:22 PM. Her body entered this world, but her first sight was of Heaven’s glory — and most certainly of Jesus.
Magnolia is survived by her parents, Johnny and Sydney Simmons, and her big brother, JJ. Family and friends were eagerly awaiting the Simmons family’s growth to four, and Magnolia was deeply loved from the moment she was knit together in her mother’s womb by our Creator.
Her name was tenderly and unexpectedly given to Sydney and Johnny on a cool autumn morning walk, as JJ gathered magnolia leaves. When the unimaginable news was delivered, their hearts were instantly broken. Though the pain is unbearable, unfair, and beyond understanding, they trust that this holy sorrow will be redeemed for good through the saving work of Jesus Christ.
As Sydney and Johnny often say, Magnolia is enjoying Heaven and singing praises with full joy.
Magnolia is also survived by her great-grandparents, Stella Wickham, Nat and Katie Taylor, Anne Curlett; her grandparents, Austin and Denise O’Toole, John and Winnie Simmons, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
All are welcome to attend the funeral service, which will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church, 8801 Park Rd, Charlotte, NC 28210.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Out of the Ashes Foundation (https://outoftheashes5k.com/donate/).
Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Dear Johnny & Sydney,
I was so happy when you and little JJ moved into the neighborhood. Another beautiful, young family moving into Heathstead - so welcome!
Then to learn little ‘Maggie’ was on the way - even better. I would’ve loved to have met her and watch her grow. Sadly, it was not meant to be.
Am thinking of you two and sending love,
Barbara -
