James "Jim" Delimitros

CHARLOTTE – James “Jim” Delimitros, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from a sudden heart attack.  He was born in Seattle, Washington, in 1938 to Herman and Margaret Delimitros.  

Jim graduated from the University of Washington, where he was a proud member of Phi Delta Theta.  He cherished the lifelong friendships he made with his fraternity brothers and always enjoyed keeping in touch with them.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army for 20 years, stationed in many locations around the world, including two tours in Vietnam.  Of all his assignments, his favorite posting was in Italy, where he spent four memorable years.  It was there that his son, Zack was born, creating treasured memories for the family.

After retiring from the military, Jim continued his work in telecommunications with Belk Services and EDS.  He and his wife, Anne, shared a love for visiting Highlands, North Carolina, for more than 40 years.

For 18 years, Jim was a dedicated volunteer at NourishUp (formerly known as Loaves and Fishes) where he gave of his time generously.

Jim is survived by his wife, Anne; his son, Zack and his fiancé, Tiffany Whitmire; his brother, Tom and his wife, Lourdes; and his sister, Phyllis Steen.

Jim will always be remembered for his love of family, country, his intellect, humor, kindness, and a good martini.

A private service will be held for the family.
