Elissavet Ioannou Kazakou

WEDDINGTON – Elissavet Ioannou Kazakou, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, April 7, 2025.  She was born in Agios Nikolaos (Laspi) Evrytania Greece in 1946 to Ioannis and Maria Mpakalios.

Elissavet married her beloved husband Ioannis Kazakos in 1965 and immigrated to Germany for a better future, worked at a glass factory and stayed there for fifteen years.  She moved back to Greece in 1980 where she was a housewife and a mother of three daughters.  Elissavet loved cooking and gardening.  Flowers were her passion.  She moved to Charlotte after her husband passed away in 2015 and she was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Elissavet is survived by her daughters, Dimitra Forniotis and husband, Jimmy, Lambrini Kalevas and husband, Spero Kalevas, Athina Ternioti and husband, Ioannis Terniotis; grandchildren, Nicko, Elissavet , Loukas, Yiannis, Maria, Elisavet and Aristidis.  Also surviving are her two brothers, Konstadinos and Serafim Mpakalios; sister, Martha Kodakis and many nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by her husband, Ioannis Kazakos and her parents.

The family would like to extend special thanks to their family and friends for all the support they received during this difficult time.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

    We are so sorry for the loss of your beloved Mother. We had the pleasure a few years ago to travel with her on a flight to Greece. She was friendly and outgoing. May her memory be eternal and may she rest in peace.
