Richard Clyde Hall, Jr.

CHARLOTTE - Richard Clyde Hall, Jr., 93, met his Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on Monday, March 24, 2025.  His lifelong passion was discipleship.  He taught, equipped, encouraged and trained others in their personal journey to grow closer to Jesus Christ.  From college campuses as a Baptist Student Union Director in the fifties, to working on the staffs of churches and the Texas Baptist State Convention, he was prepared to work nationally and internationally as a part of LifeWay Christian Resources (formerly Baptist Sunday School Board).  He loved people and was a mentor to many of his staff and youth ministers.  He loved to travel and visited more than 50 countries throughout his lifetime. 

Clyde was born in Florence, AL on April 13, 1931.  His family moved to Miami, FL during the depression.  He graduated from Edison High School and then graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville.  He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with MA and EdD degrees.  He compiled and commissioned a variety of discipleship publications including DiscipleLife and DiscipleYouth.  He retired in 2000 from LifeWay as Senior Manager, Youth Section. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mildred Denham Hall; his sister, Thelma Jean Keesling, and his children, Richard D. (Karen) Hall, Darralyn H. (Michael) Cummings, Edward E. (Shana) Hall; daughter-in-law, Sandy B. Hall, 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Clyde was predeceased by his parents, Richard C. Hall, Sr. and Hazel Darrah Hall and son, Kevin Clyde Hall.

Services will be private.
