Terry Boman

January 29, 2025
CHARLOTTE – Terry Boman, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
He will be remembered and missed forever by his wife, Wendy and their beloved cat Buddha Kitty. Terry and Wendy met in Oregon and were married for 45 years.
Terry lived a full and meaningful life. He was born on a farm in Joplin, Missouri and at four years of age moved with his family to Salem, Oregon. Terry began his love of the arts by drawing cartoons and designing cars. He built a 32 Model T Ford from the ground up and it was the talk of his high school. He transferred his love of drawing and designing to the fine arts where he attended the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, CA. Terry enjoyed abstract painting with various mediums, and painting brought him the most happiness throughout his life. Terry was skilled at woodworking without machinery and enjoyed hand carving many of his furniture pieces. His experience during the Summer of Love in San Francisco influenced Terry greatly and lead him to become fiercely independent and focused on self-awareness and mindfulness. Traveling with just a backpack, Terry spent time hitchhiking the roads up and down the West Coast and this included stopping to spend time with encounter groups and other life affirming gatherings. Terry had a passion for the Japanese diet of Macrobiotics and adhered strictly to the principle for his entire life. In Terry’s later years his artist’s palette extended to his love of landscaping and he spent many hours perfecting the art of plant placement and pruning in our yard.
The family would like to extend thanks to Terry’s many caregivers, and community of friends that kept them going. Additional special thanks go to Larry and Gail Burke, Craig and Sara Cederburg, Meredie Scrivner and Becky with Carolina Caring.
