James Kastriches

CHARLOTTE – James Kastriches, 90, of Charlotte, NC died peacefully on Sunday January 26, 2025.

James was born in the village of Daphni in Evrytania, Greece. He immigrated to the United States at an early age.  He was first employed at his uncle’s restaurant in Athens, Ohio where he gained experience in the restaurant business.  After five years he moved to Charlotte, NC and started his own business (The Brown Derby).  James then married in Karpenisi, Greece in September of 1964 to Angie “Loula” Ziozios.

James was an active and dedicated member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in which he served as treasurer.  He was also active in the Velouchi Evrytanian Association of America Charlotte serving as treasurer for 35 years.  His hobby was his farm.  He enjoyed raising goats and lambs and tending to his garden.

James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.

James is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Angie Kastriches; his children, Sam Kastriches and his wife, Laura, Dennis Kastriches and his wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jamie, Jon, James and Victoria.  Also surviving is his sister, Helen Paparoupas.  He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Maria Kastriches and his sisters, Martha Karani and Fotini Geogopoulos.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of James to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203 or The Panagia Prousiotissa Chapel at Elatos Park, 125 Jim Parker Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
