Peggy Youngblood Jamison

January 1, 2025

CHARLOTTE – Peggy Youngblood Jamison, 98, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.  Born on September 17, 1926, in Charlotte, NC, she was the cherished daughter of Beulah and Henry Youngblood.

Peggy grew up in the Wilmore neighborhood of Charlotte, attending Wilmore Elementary, AG Junior High and graduating from Central High School.  Her faith was a cornerstone of her life from an early age, as she attended Wilmore Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.

After earning her associate degree in bookkeeping, Peggy married James Randolph Jamison, Jr., the love of her life, following his service as a Marine in the Pacific during World War II.  Together they built a loving home in Charlotte and raised three daughters.  Peggy’s professional career as a bookkeeper included roles at Star Paper Products, Carolina Paper Board, and as office manager for writer and publisher Harry Golden.  She later retired from White Printing.

Peggy’s Christian faith remained central throughout her life.  She was an active member of Grace Methodist Church where she continued teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.  In retirement, Peggy and Jim enjoyed life on Lake Wylie; boating, gardening and traveling together.  In 2006, they moved to Statesville, NC to be closer to family and joined Broad Street United Methodist Church.  In 2023, Peggy and Jim relocated to Cadence Assisted Living of Mint Hill.

She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Jane Brown of Charlotte, Nan Currier and husband, David of Matthews, and Leslie Brookshire and husband, Joe of Mint Hill; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many devoted nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, “Jimmy” of 77 years, and her two sisters, Doris Price and Helen Parker.

Peggy’s life was a testament to her faith and devotion to her family.  May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

A memorial service to honor Peggy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Aunt Peggy was one of those people that everyone was immediately drawn toward. She embodied the spirit of love, humor and kindness. I never heard her speak ill about anyone. I always felt welcomed and valued in her company. We have another wonderful angel looking over us.

Much love, hugs and condolences to my dear cousins: Jane, Nan and Leslie. Although I did not know your precious mother well, I have heard so many loving things about her from my mother, LaVerne Sloan. ❤️
