Robert Wayne Baxley

November 13, 2024
CHARLOTTE – It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Robert Wayne Baxley on Wednesday, Nov 13th 2024, after a year long battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. Rob was born in Durham, NC on June 28, 1947 to Oakie Winford and Doris Marie Baxley. The eldest of three children he was raised in Hemingway, SC. He graduated from Hemingway High School in 1965, then moved to Columbia, SC to attend Palmer Business College and graduated in 1967. He had an idyllic small-town childhood with his brother, Keith and sister, Joyce. His father taught him to be a businessman from a young age and his mother taught him to be a gentleman.
Rob met the love of his life, Annmarie Cramer in 1968 in Myrtle Beach, SC where they were both living for the summer. They fell in love that summer and created many memories over the love of dancing (shagging) and good music. They married in 1971 and moved to Tallahassee, FL for 3 1/2 years where their precious daughter Tiffany Baxley Smith (1973) was born. From there Rob and family moved to Winter Park,FL and ultimately lived in Winter Springs for the next 45 years. Rob was always the consummate salesman and Entrepreneur. He created many businesses during his years in Florida and developing real estate was his biggest success. Tiffany and her husband, Scott Smith, gave TA his greatest treasures, his grandchildren, Sugar Bear, Booger Bear and Sweet Pea (his stinkerbums). TA was the greatest Dad a girl could ask for and even better grandfather. Spending time with those he loved was his favorite past time.
Rob was a really funny man and would do anything to make people laugh. Rob loved a good time and hated a party to end. He was a very kind and generous person. Rob really never met a stranger and always made people feel comfortable.
Rob will be remembered for so many reasons.
Rob, Bob, Bobby, Robbie and TA were names he was called by all who loved him. Rob loved golfing, hiking, traveling, spending time with his buddies and his family at home, the mountains of North Carolina and Pawleys Island, South Carolina where he grew up spending time as a teenager and then again with his wife, daughter, son-in- law and grandchildren for over 20 years.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Annmarie Cramer Baxley of almost 54 years, daughter Tiffany Smith (Scott) and 3 grandchildren, Baxley, Wyatt and Ivy. His brother Keith (Phyllis), sister Joyce Hanna, sisters-in-law Mary Scharlat (Jeff) and Cathy Saunders (Ken) and 11 nieces and nephews and many more family and friends. A Celebration of Life will take place at their home on North Litchfield Beach in the Spring.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306.
Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Dear Annmarie and family
It is with great sadness that we hear of Bob's passing.
We remember the good times we had with You and Bob at Tuscawilla and some of the local restaurants. The Christmas Golf Tournaments and the bar b que in the backyard. I could go on as many different events come to mind.
You are in our prayers.
