Bert Voswinkel, Sr.

November 26, 2024

CHARLOTTE – Bert Voswinkel, Sr., beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the age of 85.  Born and raised in Stettenhoffen, Germany, just an hour outside of Munich, Bert was one of five brothers who shared a close bond throughout their lives.

Bert’s life changed forever in the late 1950’s when he met Patricia, the love of his life, while she was on vacation in Germany.  Their romance led to their marriage and Bert’s relocation to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they built a life together.  Patricia preceded him in death in 2016, and he missed her dearly in the years that followed.

Bert was a dedicated and talented dental technician who owned and operated his own dental laboratory in Charlotte until his retirement.  His work specialized in cosmetic crown and bridge work, helping dentists bring smiles to their patients.

Beyond his professional life, Bert was deeply engaged in his community.  He was an active member of the Charlotte Rotary Club and supported numerous civic and cultural organizations throughout the area.  Bert also had a special love for animals, and he and Patricia were proud caretakers of many cats over the years, whom they loved like family.

Bert is survived by his children, Dr. Patrick and Eunice Voswinkel of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Bert Voswinkel Jr., a chiropractor in Charlotte, North Carolina and Nick Voswinkel, a nurse practitioner and attorney in San Diego, California.  He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Emma Voswinkel and Trevor Wilkins of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Brittany and Valerie Voswinkel of New York, New York.

Bert will be remembered for his kindness, his craftsmanship, and his dedication to his family.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society of Charlotte, reflecting Bert’s love for his cats.  Bert is also survived by his cats Trouble and Rosie whom were a source of comfort and joy in his later years.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

I am friends with Bert's son Bert Jr. I have been to Germany to see his family and played music at his house in Charlotte almost every day when we would get out of school. He was such a kind and supportive person. Miss you Mr. Voswinkel. Rest in peace.

    To Bert's Family ~
Bert was a faithful attendee at Charlotte Rotary meetings every Tuesday where he greeted us with a smile and a hug. I loved hearing his witty "take" on whatever was happening in Charlotte or within our club and that's what I'll remember most about Bert. He spread joy and humor which is, no doubt, what he's doing in Heaven right now.
I send my deepest condolences to you on Bert's passing.

Bert was a dear friend from Rotary. He was the club's photographer and the two of us spent hours cropping and downloading photos. Every week for 18 years, we shared stories of our families. He loved "the table" and what fun those guys had! He was so proud of his children & grandchildren. And the cats, of course. My sincere condolences to each of you and I wish you peace.
