Jeanne White Cofield Carson

November 19, 2024

CHARLOTTE – Jeanne White Cofield Carson, 89, of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, after living with Alzheimer's disease for many years.

Jeanne was born on February 25, 1935, in Rossville, GA.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Jeanne made all occasions special, and she spared no expense, always remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.  She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, where she lived out her faith in Jesus.  She especially loved being part of the United Methodist Women (UMW) and singing in the church choir.  Even in her very last days when her communication was severely impaired, she was singing songs that she knew by heart.  Jeanne had a beautiful smile and in all her years living with Alzheimer’s, she was pleasant, did not complain, and would thank those caring for her.  We will all miss her greatly.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Phyllis Irwin (Don) and Keith Cofield (Kelsy); her beloved grandchildren, Dorothy Irwin, Doug Irwin, Douglas Cofield, Jess Cofield, and Tyler Hill; and her brother, Roy White (Kay).  She was predeceased by her husband, William Douglas Cofield; her parents, Lewis Milton White and Eula Mae Chapman White, and her five sisters, Christine Dooley, Louise Foster, Anita German, Vera Dickert, and Joy Doss.

A Celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 2, 2024, at St. Francis United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Memorials may be offered in memory of Jeanne to St. Francis United Methodist Church, 4200 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC 28270, where she was a member or to UMCOR, United Methodist Council on Relief.  Donations may be sent to Global Ministries/UMCOR, GPO, P.O. Box 9068, New York, NY 10087 or via https://umcmission.org/advance-project/999895/.
