Diane Boyd, 76, of Charlotte, died peacefully at home on November 20,2024, surrounded by her family. Diane was born July 16,1948 in Camden, New Jersey, daughter of Roland Howard and Vera Newby Perry Hermann. Diane grew up in Charlotte and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. Additionally, she continued her education at Queens University, to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

 After working at Presbyterian Hospital in Pediatrics, Diane transitioned to the Mecklenburg County Health Department, allowing her to spend time with her husband and their two young sons. Beginning as a staff nurse in Family Planning and Well Child clinics, Diane quickly advanced to become a supervisor over many different clinics. She was subsequently named a manager of clinical services, including TB Control, Refugee Services, Immunizations and Foreign Travel. Diane received many awards for her tireless efforts, with the highlight of her 45-year career being a recipient of the prestigious legendary Order of the Longleaf Pine, issued by Governor Pat McCrory. This honor was presented at her retirement party.

While working tirelessly with her quick smile and "can do" attitude, Diane's passion for helping others spilled over into her personal life. She continued an active role in her community, including participation in the Charlotte Jaycettes, the Stephen's Minister Program through her church. Community Care Partners of Greater Mecklenburg, the Regional NC Association of Public Health Administrators, and the Executive Committee for Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association.

Diane and Don have stayed busy in their retirement years, enjoying their four grandchildren, as well as taking a number of trips abroad, traveling from Canada to China. They also enjoyed various activities of the Providence Country Club for the past 33 years.

Diane is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald Lee Boyd and their two sons, Bryan Alexander Boyd, his wife Lynn and Hamilton Blake Boyd and his wife Amanda. Their four grandchildren are Allison and Landon Boyd and Nicholas and Joelle Treco.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Myers Park United Methodist Church.  A reception will follow the service in Jubilee Hall at the church.  Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
