Athanasios Ioannis Kanellos

CHARLOTTE – Athanasios Ioannis Kanellos, 80, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024.  He was born in Greece on January 16, 1944.

His family will always remember him as a hardworking and loving husband, father and grandfather who was humble, always smiling and was passionate about his work, family and loved to fish and travel to his homeland.

Athanasios is survived by his wife of 52 years, Konstantia ‘Tula’ Kakavitsas Kanellos; his children, Vivi Pistolis and her husband, George, Sandy Sklar and her husband, Paul, John Kanellos and his wife, Ioulia Drosou and grandchildren, Billy, Tommy, Athan, Konstantina, Mason and Ella.  Also surviving are his brothers in Greece, Konstantinos Kanellos and his wife, Panagiota, Vasilios Kanellos and his wife, Panayiota and his many nieces, nephews and godchildren.  He was predeceased by his parents, Ioannis and Paraskevi Kanellos.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  The service will be livestreamed at:  https://vimeo.com/event/201751 for those unable to attend in person.
