Daniel Max Foster, Jr.

September 5, 2024
CHARLOTTE – Daniel Max Foster Jr., 72, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Max was born at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL on April 11, 1952. He was the son of Daniel Max Foster and Judith Beach Foster and was raised in Greenville, SC along with his brother Beach.
Max was a proud graduate of Greenville High School and Clemson University. After Clemson, Max moved to Charlotte where he worked as a Sales Rep in the Water and Wastewater Equipment business, which he loved, and eventually became a founding partner at Premier Water. He was a devoted family man to his wife Mary of 27 years, and children Daniel, Amanda, and Corbett. He loved the big moments with his children and grandchildren, such as travel and holidays, but was equally happy socializing on the sidelines of multiple games a week. Sometimes he’d even catch some of the action on the field as he made his rounds through the many people he was bound to know. Rarely was he seen at a game, or on a walk, without one of his beloved dogs.
Max was a devoted member at Myers Park Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon for many years and loved playing bass guitar in the church’s Celebrate band. He was also a regular in his Friday morning men’s Bible study group which made a huge impact on his life. Max’s love for music was a cornerstone in his life and extended to jam sessions and a garage band with his friends. Occasionally his band would book well attended gigs at the Visulite and Common Market, playing classic rock and jam tunes for worthy causes.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Foster; son, Daniel (Megan); daughters, Amanda Garvey (Kelly) and Corbett, and grandchildren, Luke and Anna Foster, Cooper and Spencer Sciotto, and Sarah and Finn Garvey.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following the service in Oxford Hall. The service will be livestreamed at: https://myersparkpres.org/live/ for those unable to attend in person.
Memorials can be made to Myers Park Presbyterian, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte, NC 28207 (https://www.shelbygiving.com/App/Form/64126737-40d5-471c-8488-62c0088abd47) or A Roof Above, PO Box 31335, Charlotte, NC 28231 (https://www.roofabove.org/donate/)

My sincere condolences to the Foster family and his Premier Water colleagues. I had the pleasure of hiring Premier Water for the Watson Marlow line and working with Max and his people, and our time together was always more than just a business arrangement. He spoke of his love of family and life and I know he will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace, Max, and enjoy your nightly sessions with Jerry Garcia.

Max, I am so sad to learn of your passing. You will be deeply missed by many, many. Thank you for the friendship and time we spent on the sidelines coaching our daughters in soccer. Those were the best of days. Your spirit, joy and contagious Smile and laughter will always be with me. Farewell friend, Godspeed. Mary Ann Corbett, I am so sorry for his terrible loss and will be praying for both of you.

I just finished watching the live stream of the celebration service for Max, andwhat celebration it was!
Not surprisingly, the stories were rich and colorful and funny, and most of all deeply loving…Just like Max.
The minister in his message about Max was so spot on …. He indeed was someone to whom so many people would naturally “gravitate.” That gravelly voice and infectious grin acted like an electrical outlet that would energize anybody blessed enough to come into contact with him.
Blessings to his mini friends and family who I know will miss him dearly.
“Father of all, we pray to you for those we love, but see no longer: Grant to them your peace; let light perpetual shine upon them; and, in your loving wisdom and almighty power, work in them the good purpose of your perfect will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” -

I’m grateful that I had an opportunity to have met Max during my career with Evoqua/Xylem. Max was great to work with and always shared his wisdom. It was always a pleasure to see him at the Premier Oyster Roast each year. Max had so many gifts and talents. However, above all he was a man of faith. My condolences and prayers go out to his entire family as well as the Premier Family. Thinking about all of you.
