Richard Francis Jenkins

CHARLOTTE - Richard Francis Jenkins, passed away on August 17, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Son to Robert Lee and Nellie Fowler Jenkins, Richard was born on August 8, 1933, in Union, South Carolina.

Richard was the beloved husband of the late, Sallie Jenkins, father to Lee Ann Carson (Shawn) and Danny Jenkins (Sidney), a loving grandfather to Erika Hussey, Cole Carson, Brandt Jenkins, Catie Walker (Josh), and great grandfather to Mason Walker, Lucas Walker, and Eli Walker. Richard is survived by his siblings; Donald (Becky), Mike (Tricia), Judy Durham (Jim), and predeceased by brothers Bill, Harry, and Bob.

A dedicated veteran, Richard was drafted into the Army after attending Clemson for a year. He was a member of the North Carolina Jaycees and a volunteer coach for the Charlotte Striders Track team. Richard’s commitment to youth development extended to volunteering with the Myers Park High School band, supporting his children.

Richard was an Office Manager for Orders Tile and Distributing Company and after retirement worked in security for the Carolina Panthers.

Funeral Services will be private. The family will receive friends at 2:30 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Jubilee Hall at Myers Park United Methodist Church,
