CHARLOTTE – Jill T. Purdy passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 26, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born on December 6, 1959, to Janie and Ed Taylor in Greenville, SC.  Jill was the youngest of their three children.  She had an older sister, Diann and brother, Mark.

Jill was the captain of her high school cheerleading squad at Greenville High.  She spent a summer studying dance at the prestigious Juilliard Dance Academy in New York City.  Jill graduated from the University of Georgia in 1981 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Jill was the newspaper editor for The Mecklenburg Times before starting her own IT Consulting firm in 2006.  She wrote her own book "Don't Fear The Pan", which had three successful editions.

Jill was an avid supporter of UGA football, never missing a game on Saturdays in the fall. She cherished vacations in Florida, particularly at Sanibel Island and Key West.  Her garden was a testament to her green thumb, blooming with color year-round.

Jill’s life was marked by her love for the arts.  She loved to sing in the choir.  She will be remembered by those that knew her for her kindness, culinary talents, generous spirit and dedication to her family.  She had a unique gift for making everyone feel special, whether through her Christmas presents that were wrapped so beautifully you didn’t want to open them or her warm hospitality.  Jill’s legacy of love, creativity, and resilience will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jill is survived by her husband, Dennis Purdy; her two stepdaughters, Kirsten Denney and Aerin Battey; five grandchildren, Kylie Denney, Taylor Denney, Connor Denney, Camden Battey and Hannah Battey; her mother, Janie Taylor and her sister, Diann Rollins of Greenville, SC.

Much love to Dennis and Family during this time. Jill was a CLASS ACT. She befriended me on day one of my job at Jackrabbit and was so kind! She will be greatly missed as a staple at all of our volunteer events with Jackrabbit. She was certainly a bright spot in our day. Prayers to you all for comfort and peace. I can only imagine the place prepared for you in heaven!
