Charles Land Hite, III
June 10, 2024
Charles Land Hite III (“Chad”) 33, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 10, 2024. The funeral service will be held at Carmel Baptist Church on Saturday, June 15 at 11:00 AM with a visitation to follow. Chad will be laid to rest at Myers Park Methodist Church in the columbarium.
Chad was born in Charlotte, NC to Land and Laura Anne Hite on April 2, 1991. He went to high school at Covenant Day School where he excelled on the basketball court. Chad went on to complete his freshmen year of college at Gardner Webb University, before transferring to Appalachian State University and graduating in 2013.
Chad was a gentle giant. He was kind, loyal, energetic, and generous. He had an infectious laugh, a servant heart, and he loved people hard. He truly was a friend to all, and he lent a helping hand to anyone in need. Chad battled serious addiction and mental health challenges for many years. He fought extremely difficult battles and, thanks to the Lord’s hand over his life, he overcame them. Once healthy, Chad fearlessly shared his testimony to help others, and to point them to Jesus. Chad was authentic and genuine. He was totally unpolished in the most beautiful way.
As proof of the Lord’s redemptive nature, Chad was enrolled at Central Piedmont Community College where he was studying addiction counseling. He worked at Charlotte Rescue Mission and had a podcast, “The Rabbit Hole Show,” which allowed a space for himself and others to speak through God’s hand in everyone’s story. The tagline of his podcast read, “We all have a story. We all have struggles. The good news is you’re never alone.” We rejoice in the ways that Chad’s well-lived life impacted others; the hope and strength he imparted will be his legacy.
Chad is survived by his parents, Land and Laura Anne Hite, his sister and future brother-in-law, Laura Beth Hite and John Carrick, his grandmother Julia Hite, and his beloved girlfriend and her son, McKenzi Davis and Clyde, (who lovingly referred to Chad as “My Guy”).
Memorial donations may be made to Charlotte Rescue Mission, PO Box 33000, Charlotte, NC 28233.
Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

I have had the pleasure of calling Charles my friend for the last 3 plus years. I first met Charles when he came to The Barn, a men's ministry that has met in Indian Land, SC for more than 19 years. He was very open about his struggles and how he was using His Podcast, The Rabbit Hole Show, to share His story and allow others to get their stories into the light. He was a breathe of fresh air and I knew I wanted to get to know him more. We had connects on a few levels; we had a love for music and being outgoing and open about how life can be hard but with the Lord as our strength, we can walk through life with a new found joy. We also loved some college basketball, namely the UNC Tarheel's. We went to a few games together. We traveled to Chapel Hill and spent the travel time sharing life stories and what the Father was up to in our restored journey's. We had some great laughs! The last game we attended was in uptown charlotte for the Jumpman tournament where UNC played Oklahoma and the Tarheels played very well and the won 81 to 69. I bring that up because Charles is a winner now that he has completed his journey and is now in the Father's arms. No more pains of life, only Joy and Unlimited Love from our Father God. I have been blessed to have Charles as my friend and I am a better man now because of his friendship and brotherhood. I pray peace and comfort for his family in the time of mourning. Love you Charles, You will be greatly missed by myself and all the Barn Brothers. Chadwick Harris

Dear Land, Laura Anne and Laura Beth and family; please accept our sincerest condolences. Ned and I are praying that the Lord will surround you with His peace, love and comfort in a very tangible way through the Holy Spirit in the coming days, weeks, months and years. Ned got to know Chad very well on a mission trip to Guyana and got to see the Holy Spirit move through Chad as he witnessed and shared the gospel through his own testimony to the men in the prison there. He was such a kind, gracious, selfless and humble man. It truly was so inspiring and encouraging to attend a few gatherings to hear how God turned Chad's struggles into a testimony and how he used it to encourage others lives pointing them to Jesus. The Lord gave Him so many opportunities to share it in powerful ways at Charlotte Rescue Mission, on missions trips and through his podcasts. What an amazing legacy Chad left and the impact it made for so many people! He finished the race Jesus set before him and entered into the presence of GOD fully healed and resting in eternal glory, worshipping around the throne of our great God and King with all the saints! Much love and prayers to the Hite family. Sonya & Ned Lewis

I remember when Chad was 3yrs old & his Grandmother Julia & I were taking a walk with Chad & my doggie Tao. Chad got tired halfway around the block & turned around & said, "Okay, it's time to go back now." That was so cute. My prayers are with his loving family. May he rest in peace. Love, Barb, Pamela & Geof Brown

I never got to meet Chad in person, but I feel like I got to meet him a little through "The Rabbit Hole Show." What a wonderful podcast and a wonderful thing for him to do, to use his past pain and experiences to reach out and help others with similar struggles that way. His humble, courageous, and caring spirit was evident. May the Lord give you great comfort as only He can.
