Anna Georges

June 2, 2024

CHARLOTTE – On Sunday, June 2, 2024, Anna Georges, 93, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.  Anna was born in the Bronx, New York in 1931, the daughter of the late George Chaconas and Stella Triantafilopoulos Chaconas, and was the youngest of six children.

She was a dynamic and talented singer and spent much of her teens and twenties entertaining hundreds at countless venues singing traditional Greek songs.  She married William Georges in 1956 and they had four children.  Anna and William moved to Charlotte in 1969 where they established Valentino’s Restaurant and proudly served the community for 30 years.  Anna was a devoted member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church and volunteered countless hours to assist at the annual Greek Festival and other church activities.  Anna took great pride in being a mother and grandmother who filled her later years with an abundance of joy.  She will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Anna is survived by her children, Pete Georges, Paul Georges and Cathy Whitlock; her grandchildren, Jason Georges, Niki Maffucci, Hanna Whitlock, Zoe Whitlock, Deme Georges and her two great-grandsons, Jacob and Joshua Georges.  She is also survived by her sister, Catherine Chaconas.  Anna was predeceased by her husband, William Georges; her daughter, Denise Georges; her sisters, Celia Lengares and Evangeline Argeros and her brothers, Alex Chaconas and Peter Chaconas.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Anna to St. Nektarios Church, 5108 Kuykendall Rd. Charlotte, NC 28270, or the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

May Her Memory Be Eternal.
