Deborah Davis Ketchum

February 27, 2024

Debbie was born on November 23, 1949, in Concord, North Carolina. She passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on February 27, 2024. Debbie grew up in a large and loving family in Kannapolis, NC where she was the oldest of five children.

Debbie was a quiet person, never seeking attention, but in fulfilling her passions she could be a force of nature. Gentle but persistent.

She was totally committed to the community of friends and believers at Westminster Presbyterian Church where she spent years teaching, loving, and championing the children of the church and managing their Sunday School programs. She was also active in women’s ministries and in cooking meals for the homeless during the Winter months. No one could forget the sweet smiles and open heart she had for everyone she knew.

She was highly creative and talented. Whether it was in her art, interior decorating or working in her flower gardens she was focused and diligent in her approach. And the end results were beautiful.

Strength was also one of her many qualities. Over many years of some serious illnesses, she never complained and fought each one quietly and formidably, more concerned about how it was affecting others than herself.

Debbie embodied Galatians 5: 22-23--The Fruits of The Spirit: love, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Were there more hearts and love like hers, we would all be living in a better place.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, John; her daughter Tricia and her twins Chet and Lois, all in London; her son Matthew and children Scout and Hank; Her stepchildren John Jr.; Christen Leris and daughter Morgan; Anne Hunter; and a sister, two brothers and grandchildren in Kannapolis.

A service to honor her faith in God and to remember her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Memorial service will be livestreamed at https://youtube.com/live/oKMDp8-x6E4?feature=share

The family will receive friends at a reception following the service. Memorial gifts in memory of Debbie may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 101 Colville Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, or a charity of one’s choosing.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

John I just heard about your loss. I am so sorry. The brief obituary only touched on the person that so many loved and cared about. The best news I can say during these difficult times is to say GOD has a special place in his kingdom for women like Debbie and one day we will be joining her for eternity through the grace of GODS love.
I will pray for you and your family during these times.
May GOD. bless you and your family.
