Zoe Psomadakis Andrews

February 24, 2024

CHARLOTTE – Zoe Psomadakis Andrews, 90, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024.  She was born in Covington, Virginia on November 27, 1933, to the late Pete and Katina Psomadakis.

Zoe was one of six children.  Her family moved to Charlotte and several years later she graduated from Central High School.  She married her “sweetheart”, as she referred to him, Andy Andrews and they had three children. Zoe was a devoted member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral and St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church. She served the church as a member and officer of the Ladies of Philoptochos Society and Daughters of Penelope, as a Sunday School teacher for many years and a volunteer at the Greek festivals.

Zoe had a “big” personality and a love for God, her family and friends and North Carolina Tarheel Basketball! She enjoyed watching tennis and football games.  As an avid reader she belonged to a book club and volunteered at Rama Road Elementary to help children with reading.  She was fun, loving, witty and always had a clever comeback.

Zoe is survived by her children, Elaine Mahairas and her husband, John, Christina Iv and her husband, Roc and Stuart Andrews; her eight grandchildren, Peter, Andriana, and Maria Mahairas, Andi, Zoe and Harrison Iv, and Alicia and Jonathan Andrews and one great-granddaughter, Elena Iv.  Also surviving are her sister, Freda Law; brother, Gus Psomadakis and his wife, Teresa; brother-in-law, George Andrews and his wife, Georgia, and many beloved nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband, Andy Andrews; two sisters, Mary Renfroe and Theo Tanner; brother, Charlie Psomadakis; brother-in-law, Pete Andrews; sister-in-law, Bessie Paskalis and her husband, Pete.

The family would like to thank her two special caregivers, Coline Massey and Lakisha Kennedy and the nurses and entire staff of White Oak Manor Waxhaw on the Hickory Wing for all their love, care and support.

Funeral services will be 12:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered in memory of Zoe to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral Foundation, 600 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203.

May Her Memory Be Eternal.

My deepest sympathy to your family in the death of Zoe. I've known Zoe since I was a little girl, many years ago. She, my sisters and others used to tease me about a "flying pink elephant" that only they could see. It drove me nuts but it was all in fun. It's amazing that I remember that now. Zoe was lots of fun to be with and I enjoyed her sweet smile. It's been many years since I've last seen her. My husband was at White Oak of Waxhaw for over five years and they took good care of him, too. Prayers for all of you as you mourn your mom's death.
    Blessings,
    Christine Leventis Pfister
