Mark Henry Saer

May 18, 2023

Mark Henry Saer of Charlotte, NC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 18, 2023, one day before his 38th birthday.  He was born in Charlotte, NC, on May 19, 1985.  Mark was a humorous, loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many.  He had big brown eyes, a huge smile and gave the very best bear hugs. He loved everyone, especially his family and friends.  Mark loved Jesus and prayed all the time.  He would be the first one at the table before a meal to ask to pray in his own unique way.

Mark loved the outdoors and spent countless hours exploring its beauty.  He loved fishing, camping, dirt bike riding, and swimming.  He had a deep love for animals and ALL animals loved him especially all of the dogs in his life.  Mark’s passion was having a saltwater aquarium.  He spent hours choosing all types of colorful, tropical fish and corals putting it together so that it was mesmerizing to watch.

Mark had the most giving heart.  He would do anything for anyone without question and he continued to give until the end of his life. Mark was able to donate his heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver to save 5 lives.

Though he left this world far too soon, he left this world a better place.

Mark is survived by his mother, Linda Carter Bohling and her husband, Rick (Norwood, NC), and his father, Henry Edward Saer and his wife, Eileen (Charlotte, NC); brothers and sisters, Matthew Saer and his wife, Jennifer (Charleston, SC), Jeffrey Saer (Charlotte, NC), Annie Basile and her husband, Rob (Charlotte, NC), Nathan Groves (Louisville, KY), Ashley Bohling (Charlotte, NC), Richie Bohling (Franklinville, NC); nephews and niece, Cameron Saer (Charleston, SC), Aiden Saer (Charleston, SC) and Madison Groves (Louisville, KY).

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry Anthony Saer (2014) and Mildred Cippoletti Saer (2013), John Ford Carter (1987) and Shirley May Griffith (2023); and his uncle, Edward James Saer (2017).

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Central United Methodist Church, 6030 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, NC.  There will be a Scattering of the Ashes Service immediately following.  A reception will be held after the service in the Fellowship Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Mark to Crossville Mission Bible Training Center, 3889 Sparta Highway, Crossville, TN 38572, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com
