Janet Sladewski LaFlamme

May 3, 2023

CHARLOTTE – Janet Sladewski LaFlamme, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, under the loving care of Hospice and family and friends.

Janet was born on March 31, 1933, in Detroit, MI where she lived until moving to Charlotte and Concord, NC in 1969.  After retiring from Liberty Mutual in 1997, she volunteered in various ministries at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and served as the social director for Young at Heart.  Along with her beloved husband, Earl, she traveled extensively with YMCA Seniors, line danced at the Concord Senior Center, and competed in bowling leagues.  A born entertainer, Janet was always ready with a joke or story, and she was known for her love of games, especially word search puzzles.  She lived out her love for Christ by her kindness, faith, and service to others and she touched many lives with the warmth of her spirit, even as her health began to fade.

Janet is survived by her son, Lawrence LaFlamme and his wife, Pam; daughter, Kathy Usher and her husband, Gary; son-in-law Barry Fisher and his wife, Mary; and granddaughters, Kelly Fisher and Madelyn Usher.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Earl LaFlamme; daughter, Mary L. Fisher; parents, William and Magdalena Sladewski; and brothers, Frank, Walter, and Hank Sladewski.

A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1400 Suther Road, Charlotte, NC.

Aunt Janet and Uncle Earl were my favorite Aunt and Uncle.
We stayed with them a while when we were children and were treated like we were their own.
Aunt Janet I hope you know how much I appreciate all that you have done for us. I love you and always will.
This obituary is perfect for you. You were always kind, gentle and loving to us. I've never know another person as loving as you. I love you!

Aunt Janet and Uncle Earl are my favorite aunt and uncle. Aunt Janet was very kind and loving to me when I was a child. I remember all the good times we all had growing up. I missed all of you when you moved.
I am not surprised to read about her volunteer work. She has universal love, and a strong faith.
All my love to all of the family.
