Harry Estes Stegall, Jr.

Harry Estes Stegall, Jr., 99, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Atrium Health Mercy.  Harry was born on August 30, 1923 in Gaffney, SC to Harry and Rose McCulloch Stegall.  Growing up in Greensboro, Harry excelled in Boy Scouts and later joined the US Army and National Guard.  He served three years in the Army and fifteen years in the National Guard, retiring with the rank of Captain.  Harry also retired after 32 years from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., where he served as a Zone Manager in San Antonio and Charlotte.

The Stegalls have lived in Charlotte since 1958 and have been members of First Baptist Church of Charlotte since 1959, where he served as chairman of various committees and the Deacon Fellowship.

Survivors include his wife of 78 years, Jane Page Stegall, daughter, Kathy Stegall, granddaughter, Jackie T. Robinson, sister-in-law, Betty Stegall, and two nieces.  In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lee Todd, granddaughter, Katherine J. Todd and a brother, Robert Lee Stegall.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:30 at the church.  Interment will follow the service in Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia, NC.
