Luther David Moser

January 1, 2023

CHARLOTTE – Luther David Moser, 81, died on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born at Presbyterian Hospital on December 17, 1941 to Curtis and Velma Moser.

Dave graduated from Central High School in 1959 and served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. While in the Army, the most memorable place he experienced was Anchorage, Alaska. If you experienced his slideshow of wonderful pictures from that time, you are lucky.

After the Army, he met his wife, Sandra, through mutual friends and they married in 1965. A few years later, he graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Campbell University in 1969. He worked for the IRS for twenty-seven years while raising two sons (Jeffrey and Steven) with Sandra.

Dave was a member of Matthews Presbyterian Church for forty years where he served as a church officer several times. He was a Mason at Excelsior Lodge 261 (past master 1990) in Charlotte along with his father and brother, Johnny Moser. Dave was a proud member of the Oasis Shriners. Inspired by opportunities to make a difference, raising money for Shriners Hospitals was one that truly moved him.

Dave’s favorite sport was golf. In his younger years, you could find him on the old Eastway course most Saturdays. In the early 1980s, he and his brother played the now famous Harbour Towne course. In 2001, he had the opportunity to walk the grounds of Augusta National.

Dave would say his greatest accomplishment was the family he helped grow with his beautiful bride, whom he loved dearly. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be missed deeply.

David is survived by his wife, Sandra, whom he spent fifty-seven wonderful years together; sons, Jeffrey Moser and his wife, Kim, and Steven Moser and his wife, Pamela; grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, Anna, Sam, and Caroline.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Matthews Presbyterian Church, 207 W. John St in Matthews, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Dave to Matthews Presbyterian Church, PO Box 97, Matthews, NC, 28105 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Pt. Dr, Tampa, FL 33607 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Sandra and family, I’m so sorry to hear of David’s passing. I was a classmate at Central High School. There have been so many of us that have passed. It’s our age of course, but it’s still not any easier. You and your family will be in my prayers?

His passing is difficult to Imagin. Dave has left behind a beautiful family, a lot of friends, and has payed it forward with his benevolence and ministry. He has not only touched our lives but countless others whom he never met. We will meet again old friend, till Valhalla.
