George Grigorian

December 18, 2022

FORT MILL – George Grigorian, 79, of Fort Mill, SC, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 after a valiant battle with blood cancer.  He was born in Tehran, Iran on August 5, 1943 to Mariam and Sergei Grigorian.

In his youth, George studied in Bremen, Germany and excelled in architecture. According to his sister Tanya, George had a pencil in his hand since he was 3.  Drawing was instinctive and always explained his vision by sketching his ideas.

George was a renowned architect, foodie and food critic, life coach, impeccable dresser with expensive taste and a world traveler.

When he came to United States, he met and married the love of his life, Peggy.  He cherished, loved and doted on his daughter, Danielle.  George considered his wife's family, his family and loved his extended family like his own.  Especially ‘the kids’ … Selena, Emma and Abe.

In his earlier career, George worked for big name architectural firms in NYC, and worked prominent positions from each of them.  Later, his most important and prestigious job of all came when he became the Design Director for the Trump Organization.

In 1996, George was offered the leading architect position in Shanghai, China for huge governmental hotel and city planning projects.  He stayed 20 years in Shanghai, creating a turnkey architecture and design company with over 100 employees.  After sacrificing 20 years of his life with back and forth coordinated travel, George finally retired in 2016, moving his family to Florida, then to South Carolina to be closer to his daughter, Danielle.

George accomplished many great things in his life and aspired to make great things happen for others.  He was selfless, kind and noble. He was a great man. He will be forever missed.

George is survived by his wife, Peggy and daughter, Danielle.  Also surviving are his son, Oliver; daughter, Nathalie and grandchildren, Mara and Luis.  He was predeceased by his sister, Tanya whom he was very close and loved very much.

Funeral services for George will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. Sarkis Armenian Church, 7000 Park Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews, NC.

George was a leader. He loved his family and always had their interests in mind. He shared his home and it remains a constant memory of laughter, warmth and love, from the Superbowl to all day pool parties.
He loved my sister and for that I’m always thankful seeing her happy. You lived a good life Georgie, now it’s time to rest.
    Peace be with you eternally
