Patricia Anne Watterson Treadaway

October 5, 2022

Patricia Anne Watterson Treadaway passed from this life October 5, 2022. She was delivered into this world by her father at home February 28, 1931. The family doctor was blocked by a train on the route to the home and didn’t arrive in time.

Pat was the epitome of a life well lived and a native Charlottean. She was a dedicated family matriarch, actively involved with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active member of Providence United Methodist Church since 1964, participating in United Methodist Women (Circle 2), WNCC disaster relief, Christian Home Sunday School, the Stitching Divas and her beloved church choir. She was also active with her Harding High School reunion group which still meets on a bi-monthly basis. She was also the class recorder for some of the classes in the newsletter. Additionally, she was involved with her Central Piedmont Community College retirement group which meets twice a year.

Her work life was varied including jobs as a typing teacher, church administrative secretary with two different churches and executive secretary with Beverly “Bevo” Howard at Hawthorne Aviation - Spence Army Airfield. Bevo supervised flight training at Spence Airfield and relied on Pat’s meticulous attention to detail in completing this important work. She ultimately retired from Central Piedmont Community College where she loved working with David Lee Hunter – VP of Arts and Science programs.

Following retirement, Pat plunged into travel, enjoying beach trips to the North Myrtle Beach area, St. Augustine and old Florida to visit her childhood best friend. In addition, she enjoyed European Travels with the PUMC choir, and even took an eight-week road trip to the Arctic Circle via the Alaskan Highway and across the lower 48 states. She participated in multiple weekend college CPCC courses and was introduced to camping. This resulted in several week-long paddle trips in the Okefenokee Swamp applying lessons learned in photography and biology classes, as well as North Carolina history immersion trips.

When not traveling, Pat spent time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pat was an accomplished seamstress with a passion for quilting. She made a quilt for each of her children as well as each grandchild for graduation from college or high school. These will always be treasured!

Pat was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Jessie (Voltz) Watterson and siblings, Charles Watterson, Jr. and Ramelle Morrison.

She is survived by her children, Teresa Treadaway Stewart, Charles Treadaway (Kathy) and Howard Treadaway (Debbie); grandchildren, David Stewart (Holly), Elizabeth Deas (Cody), Katherine Treadaway (Vince), Caroline Treadaway and Charles Treadaway Jr.;great-grandchildren, Emma-Kate Eddy, Clive Stewart and Carson Stewart.
