It was about 1964, Charlotte, N.C., Hampshire Hills, a new neighborhood with new folks with young children. There was a softball field and neighborhood pool where we gathered, as well as on various patios for juke box music furnished by K.D. Bill and Emily Heck embodied the spirit of Hampshire Hills―one of welcome, friendship, camaraderie and fun. Even if Bill complained that my Ping Pong serve was illegal, it was a pleasure and a blessing to have known him and stayed friends for all these years. And to this day, my son still reminisces about his great memories and those of his sister and brother growing up there to which Bill made such a contribution. Love you, Emily, and thank you.
