She was born May 11, 1930, in Maxton, NC, to the late William James "Billy" McDonald and Katie McLean McDonald. She was raised in Linden, NC, where she graduated from High School.

Kathy was a Registered Nurse with specialties in Cardiac care and Infection Control. She was the first Director of Employee Health at Charlotte Memorial Hospital (now Atrium Health CMC Main).

Married for 70 years, to the love of her life Wilson Benson “Ben” Marsh, Jr. Ben and Kathy met at a dance in Charlotte, NC.

Supporting others was most important to her. In her professional and personal activities, Kathy put others first and willingly served anyone in need. Kathy's love language was acts of service. Active in her Circle, she also supported scouting and Wednesday Night Suppers. Along with her husband, Ben, they were instrumental in founding the church Best Years Club for those 60 years and over.

Kathy's last acts of service were prayer for others. She would offer prayer to anyone around her, her care givers, her doctors, family and friends. Her children remember mom saying I will pray for 'your journey's mercies'.

Her hobbies were baking and cooking, walks on the beach at low tide searching for seashells, and enjoying the fall colors in the mountains.

She was most frequently heard to say, “What can I do for you.”

Kathy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grand-mother, sister, niece, steward, disciple, patient, and friend.

She will be forever missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Kathy Marsh was our neighbor for over 20 years in Charlotte, She was such a devout Christian lady. She loved her family, church and community. She was not just a neighbor to us, but a friend, mentor and a foster grandparent to our children. We have such great memories of Kathy and her family. We will miss Kathy, but know she is smiling down from heaven with a bright halo on. Our warmest condolences to all the Marsh family.
