CHARLOTTE – James “Jim” Archibald Campbell, 86, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at his home in Charlotte after his battle with Alzheimer's.  Born in Buies Creek, NC in 1935, he was the son of the late Leslie Hartwell Campbell and Ora Green Campbell.

Jim aka “Soup” at Quail Hollow Club played golf several times most weeks with his closest friends.   He won club championships and tournaments and repeatedly told family and friends while playing “there is no other place I’d rather be....”

Jim is survived by his children, Leslie Deaton and her husband, Alex of Charlotte, James Campbell of Hickory and Walter Campbell of Charlotte; grandchildren, Christine Campbell of Monroe, Alexander Deaton and his wife, Carrie of Charlotte, Allyson Gordon and her husband, John of Fort Mill.   He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Hartleigh Campbell, Aila Gordon, Lee Gordon, James Deaton, and Eleanor Deaton.  The love of his life for 61 years, Alice Faye predeceased him in 2021.

The family is grateful for the support of the FirstLight Home Care and Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region caregivers and nurses, his private nurse, and his amazing housekeeper.
