Michael David Lawson

January 9, 2022

CHARLOTTE – Michael David Lawson went home to Jesus on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at age 64.  Michael was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 6, 1957 to Richard and Esther Lawson.

Michael loved his family, friends and his Georgia Bulldogs.  He never met a stranger and loved to show kindness to everyone he met.  Michael loved to fish, smoke out on his grill, play his banjo and he loved to take beautiful photographs of the world around him.  Some of his fondest memories were of his time at Upper Heyford High School in England where he participated in ROTC and church musicals including Natural High and Celebrate Life.  It was during this time that Michael accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior.  Since that time Michael never wavered in his faith and love for the Lord.  Everyone who knew him became more aware of God’s blessings because of his faith.  We rejoice that Michael is finally seeing His Lord face to face.  We thank God for the gift of Michael in our lives, especially in our hearts.  He will be deeply missed.

Michael is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Christopher and his wife, Cristina and Michelle and her husband, Warren; grandchildren, Elayna, Alyssa, Benjamin, Dylan, Ethan, Henry and step-grandson, Aramis.  He joins his parents, Richard and Esther, and his brothers, Lanier and Russell, in Heaven.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in Michael’s memory to the Charlotte Rescue Mission, PO Box 33000, Charlotte, NC 28233 or https://charlotterescuemission.org/give-2/.

A private memorial service will be announced at a later date.
