Sally Harris McCoy

Sally Harris McCoy, 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully Thursday, September 23, 2021, after an extended illness. Sally was born in Huntington, WV to the late Harvey and Pearl (Pike) Harris. She graduated from Huntington High School and attended Marshall University. She and her husband, Gene were long time sweethearts before they married in Hawaii where Gene was stationed in the United States Navy. After returning to Huntington, Sally dedicated her time to raising her family and was an active member of Westmoreland United Methodist Church. She was known for her warm personality and hospitality; she never met a stranger. Sally and her husband later moved to Charlotte to be closer to their girls and grandchildren. They were faithful members of Providence United Methodist Church and enjoyed the activities and many friendships they developed at The Cypress in Charlotte, NC.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Gene P. McCoy. Also surviving are her daughters Lea McCoy Morrison and her husband, Darrell of Charlotte, and Lisa McCoy Pendergrass and her husband, Jim of Raleigh; three grandsons, Tyler Morrison and his wife, Sherilyn of Charlotte, Connor Pendergrass and his wife, Elizabeth of Washington, DC, and Blake Pendergrass of Nashville, TN; several nieces and nephews, Becky Jenkins and her husband, Tom of WV, David McCoy and his wife, Wanda of VA, and Tim McCoy and his wife, Susan of VA along with two cousins, Sue Foster of VT and Cinda Short of FL.

A memorial service to celebrate Sally’s life will be two o’clock, Saturday afternoon, October 30, 2021, at Providence United Methodist Church.  The service will be livestreamed at: https://boxcast.tv/view/sally-mccoy-memorial-service-229373 for those unable to attend in person.
