Charles Neal Cisne, Jr.

May 31, 2021

CHARLOTTE – Charles Neal Cisne Jr., 76, died on Monday, May 31, 2021.  He was born in Charlotte on February 28, 1945, the son of Charles Neal Cisne and Betty Sue Goforth Cisne.

Neal graduated from Myers Park High School, Class of 1963, where he participated in many sports, but excelled in track.  He went on to graduate from Wake Forest University in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  While at Wake Forest, he joined the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity making friendships he maintained throughout his life. After graduating, he received his Certified Financial Planner designation from the New York School of Finance and later became a financial consultant in the field of oil and gas.

Neal was strong and determined yet had a soft heart known by everyone. Neal and his wife Jane met in junior high school and remained together ever since. He was an avid sports fan who spent many years coaching his sons in basketball, and watching his grandchildren play in a variety of sports.  Neal was a member of Myers Park Country Club for 44 years where he enjoyed playing golf and cards with his many friends. He loved his time spent at the family home in Hound Ears, looking out at Grandfather Mountain while watching his golf tournaments.  Neal’s tough and tender nature was reflected throughout his life. He will be remembered as a loyal, generous friend and a figure of strength to his family.

Neal is survived by his wife, Jane of 58 years; two sons, Charles Neal Cisne III “Chip” of Charlotte, NC, Bryan McKee Cisne and his wife, Martha, of Isle of Palms, SC; and four grandchildren, Chase, Walker, Banks, and Kate.  He is also survived by his brother, John Thomas Cisne and his wife, Nancy, of Charlevoix, MI.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Claud Grigg and Jessica Krousel at Levine Cancer Institute for their excellent care and compassion.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 7, 2021, at Myers Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in Heaton Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Myers Park Baptist Church, 1900 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

I met Neal back in 1983 upon joining Myers Park Country Club. He was a fixture at the club and everyone knew and liked him. Over the years we played a lot of golf together. My most fond memories of Neal include the bi-annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach in the 80s and 90s. Neal and I were often paired together and we seemed to always win our matches. Sadly, we lost touch over the last few years. To Jane and the boys I send my heart felt condolences. Neal was a great guy and he will be missed by all of his many friends.

The write up indicates that he will be missed by those who knew him and will be a missed opportunity of a great person by many of us who did not. Knowing some of his family exemplifies the love of life and friendship that was taught. We will miss you Neal as we celebrate life and love and will always be in our
