Alice Faye Franklin Campbell

CHARLOTTE – Alice Faye Franklin Campbell, 85, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 after a brief illness. She was born in Buies Creek, NC, the youngest daughter of Walter and Nannie Lou Franklin. A graduate of Buies Creek High including completion of Campbell College courses, she then obtained her bachelor's degree at Meredith College, and did further post graduate studies at Duke. She taught school in Coats, NC, Raleigh, NC, and Denver, Colorado.

During her marriage, Alice had the opportunities to live in Denver, Colorado, Honolulu, Hawaii, San Antonio, Texas, Monterrey, California, and Stuttgart, Germany, with her husband during his US Army service, prior to her return to North Carolina.

In Charlotte, she was a faithful member of Providence Baptist Church and a longtime member of the choir. Alice was an energetic Realtor with Cottingham-Chalk. She thrived at Quail Hollow with tennis for decades, and bridge with her dearest friends there. Alice focused on her family and annual plantings in the yard with the help of her friends, family, and husband.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Campbell; children, Leslie Deaton and her husband, Alex, James Campbell III and Walter Campbell; grandchildren, Alexander Deaton and his wife, Carrie, Allyson Gordon and her husband, John and Christine Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Hartleigh Campbell, Aila Gordon, Lee Gordon, and James Deaton.

Services will be private.
