Bobby Lewis Bradshaw

May 8, 2021

STANLEY- Bobby “Bob” Lewis Bradshaw was called home to his heavenly Father on Saturday, May 8, 2021.  Born in Rock Hill, SC, to Charlie and Pearl Bradshaw, Bob lived most of his life in Charlotte.  He attended West Mecklenburg High School and Purdue University.  Bob was in the first graduating class of West Mecklenburg in 1952; it was there where he met his future wife, Sylvia.  Their relationship has been a love story from their first date.  Bob and Sylvia were married at Thrift Baptist Church December 19, 1952.

Bob was an accountant at Concrete Materials in Charlotte until he became a State Farm agent, working for 36 years until his retirement in 2001.

A member of Hillcrest Baptist Church since 1962, Bob was a faithful servant of Christ, a deacon, and a teacher of youth, young adults, and the men’s class throughout the years.

Bob and Sylvia started a young married class that began with no members, but quickly grew due to his dedication to visitation.  His influence and witness for the Lord motivated students to become devoted Christ-followers, many of them pursuing ministry careers.

A godly husband and father, Bob loved family vacations at the beach.  He was an outstanding athlete excelling in many sports, his favorite being tennis which he played competitively into his 80’s.  Bob had a sharp mind and was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor.  His wit and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Sylvia; daughters, Deb Ward (Buddy); Jacque Smith (Don); Brenda Keever (Joey); Teresa Dillard (Jeff); and son, Shane Bradshaw (Amy); grandchildren, Hana Ward, Josh Ward, Dustin Smith (Sabrina), Matt Smith (Amanda), Hayley Steedley (Spencer), Megan Murray (Sam), Adam Keever, Luke Keever, Zach Dillard (Jessica), Cassie Maxwell (Brandon), Jake Dillard (Sammi), Cierra Bradshaw, Harleigh Eury, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Rash and Rev. Steven Gompers officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region and Stress Free Home Care for the loving care they provided “Pop”.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Attn: Children’s Playground Fund, 8501 Belhaven Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28214.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.
