John Franklin Johnson
March 25,2021
John Franklin Johnson transitioned into eternal life on Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born to Louis and Sarah Johnson on December 22, 1951 in Columbia South Carolina. At age 12, he moved to Charlotte. He grew up in the Midwood area, attended St. Johns Baptist Church in his youth and graduated from Garinger High School in 1970. John graduated from UNC at Chapel Hill in 1974. After college John began his insurance career with Allstate and later became an independent insurance agent.
John was a sweet and happy guy who was quick witted and beloved by his family and friends. His buddies have described him as the type of guy that you could trust with both your wife and your money! He was truly loyal, faithful, and kind. The most important thing about JJ was that he understood the love of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He believed that the Word of God was the most important thing in life.
John is survived by his wife, Rita Fleming - Johnson, his daughter, Anna Grace Johnson, his stepmother, Patsy Johnson, and a wonderful group of dear friends.
John fought cancer valiantly and explained to Rita that he was ok and happy. Because of the love and grace of Christ, John is whole and healed today and enjoying his eternal life in Heaven.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 5:30 PM in the main ballroom of Providence Country Club located at 6001 Providence Country Club Drive Charlotte, NC 28277.

JJ will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. You could always count on laughing when you were with him, as he came prepared with an arsenal of jokes. He was quick witted and good natured. He was one of a kind and I feel lucky to have known him 54 years, My heart breaks for Rita and Anna Grace as they learn to navigate life without their rock. Hopefully John has already connected with those who have gone before him and they are sharing old stories and jokes. May he rest in peace.
