Alexander Laris

February 12, 2021

CHARLOTTE – Alexander Laris, 13, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 12, 2021.  Alex was born in Charlotte on August 16, 2007 to Jesus Laris and Nancy Carrillo.

Alex was a beautiful young boy who had a great personality and was enthusiastic about getting things done.  From an early age Alex struggled with asthma, however through perseverance he eventually overcame it by the time he reached 11.  Alex especially enjoyed school and helping his friends with their homework projects, in addition to playing sports.  His family nickname was Alexito.

Alex’s favorite sport was baseball and he grew excited every year when the new season would arrive.   His most memorable moment was in the fall of 2019 when he had the opportunity to play together on the same team with his brother and cousin.  Alex may not have been the biggest ball player on the field, but he had the biggest heart and always put forth his best effort in helping his team win every game.  At the end of a ball game Alex would ask his parents to stop by his favorite restaurant Chick-fil-A to pick up a meal for his brothers and him.  His other favorite foods included pizza and Japanese food.

Alex very much enjoyed attending Charlotte Knights games on the weekends with his family.  Another special family moment was when he attended an Atlanta Braves (his favorite team) in Atlanta in 2019.  He cherished getting to watch his favorite players Ronald Acuna, Jr. and Freddie Freeman.

Besides baseball Alex enjoyed going to Carowinds and riding the highest roller coasters in the park.  He also enjoyed swimming in the summertime and playing with his brothers, cousins and friends.

Alex had a tremendous love for his parents and brothers especially his youngest brother, Andrew which he used to carry around before bedtime every night.  He had a nightly routine of kissing each of his brother’s goodnight before going to bed.

Alex’s family will forever remember him as a happy, wonderful, athletic young boy who always had a big smile on his face.

Alex is survived by his parents and his brothers, Lisandro, David, Jayden, and Andrew.  He is also survived by his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 26, 2021 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.  The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until the time of the service in the activities center at the church.  Interment will follow at Crown Memorial Park, 9620 Rodney Street, Pineville, NC 28134.  Covid protocols will be followed at the church.  The service will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/stvdpcharlotte/live for those unable to attend.
