CHARLOTTE – Thomas J Evans, 93, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 after a brief illness.

Tom was the oldest of four children born to Audra Ballentine Evans and Russell F. Evans on October 1, 1927 in Middletown, Ohio.

During World War II, Tom served in the Army at Fort Lewis, Washington.

His education included degrees from Wittenberg College and West Virginia University.

In 1954, Tom married Bernice Young, and they were blessed with 66 years together. Their family was his pride and joy.

Tom’s career was in manufacturing management and involved transfers to several states. He and Bernice made Charlotte their home in 1982.

Tom is survived by his wife, Bernice; children, Evan Thomas Evans and his wife, Whitney and Lauren Elizabeth Ballard and her husband, Randy; three adored grandchildren, Connor Ballard and his wife, Lindsay, Griffin Ballard, and Erin Evans. He is also survived by his sister, Marilyn Shearer and brother, Frank Evans. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Barbara.

The family will be forever grateful to the caregivers at Atrium Health Hospice of Union County for their loving care and kindness.
