 CHARLOTTE -  John Steven Batanides, Jr. passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born in San Francisco, California on November 28, 1951. He was the son of the late John S. Batanides Sr. and the late Eula George Batanides both from San Francisco.

John graduated from Lowell High School. After graduation, he pursued a musical career. He later became a partner in many fitness centers throughout the South and fitness became one of his many passions. Shortly after that, he pursued a career in Commercial Real Estate which lasted 20+ years working with the firms Lat Purser and Associates, NGKF, and SVN Percival Partners where he was a talented and well respected broker. His other passion was his music- he played his guitar with a special smile in his heart.

John was proud of his Greek heritage. He was a member of Myers Park United Methodist Church and sang in the choir as well as other musical and theatrical events in the church. He loved his church and God. He was passionately involved in many charitable causes. John is survived by his son, Rhett Schuylar Batanides of Charlotte NC  and his daughter, Cammeron Alexandra Batanides of Wilmington NC.  He is also survived by a brother Tom Batanides and three sisters, Stephanie Batanides, Diane Miller, and Jennifer Batanides all which reside in San Francisco, as well as many nieces and nephews.

John was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all. We know he will be watching over us in heaven.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Myers Park United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations are made to a charitable cause of your choosing.
