Carl Rost Williamson

Carl Rost Williamson, age 88, of Charlotte, died peacefully Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Levine & Dickson

Southminster. Carl was born in Fort Mill, SC and grew up in the Dilworth neighborhood in Charlotte. He was a son of the late Alva Young Williamson and Eulaila Daniels Williamson. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mayse Williamson who passed away earlier this year and four brothers and a sister. He is survived by two daughters, Anne Davis and her husband, Jimmy of Fort Mill, SC, and Beth Young of Pineville, NC; three grandchildren, Gray and Zachary Davis and Laurel Anne Young. He is also survived by two brothers, George Williamson of Clinton, SC and Jack Williamson of Columbus, IN.

Carl graduated from Central High School and attended Charlotte College. He worked for Sealtest Dairy for twenty years in sales and marketing. He later owned and operated along with his wife, Dottie, Oakhurst Food Mart and Martha’s Flowers which were Charlotte landmarks for many years. He was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Charlotte. Carl was also a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed yard work, golf, and music and was a huge St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan.

Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016, 12:00 until 1:30 p.m. at Kenneth Poe Funeral Services. Funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Morrison Chapel of Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert W. Henderson officiating. Family will briefly receive friends at the church following the service. Interment will be at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive, Weddington, NC.
