CHARLOTTE - Margaret Booth Pierce, aged 102, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Born March 28, 1923, in Evanston, Illinois, to Samuel William Booth and Fanneil Booth, she graduated from St. Catherine’s High School on June 2, 1941.

After two years at Sweet Briar College, she earned her BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on October 29, 1944. In 1945, Margaret served in the Military Intelligence Division during World War II.

On January 3, 1947, she married Henry Jones Pierce, and their marriage, grounded in love and mutual respect, endured for 50 years until his passing.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary Booth Parker, and her son Henry Jones Pierce Jr. Margaret is lovingly survived by her children—Margaret Booth Pierce, Mary Sommers Pierce, and Samuel McLaurin Pierce—as well as six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A service in celebration of her remarkable life will be held at Myers Park Presbyterian Church on Monday, July 21 at 11 a.m.
