Dorothy Nichols Bradshaw

April 14, 2025
CHARLOTTE - Dorothy (Dottie) Nichols Bradshaw, of Charlotte, NC—a devoted wife, cherished mother, and adoring grandmother—passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on February 4, 1933, in Oneonta, NY, Dottie was the only child of Kennard Nichols and Mabelthia Ingram Nichols. Her roots ran deep in family tradition, with both sets of grandparents having immigrated from Scotland—instilling in her a strong sense of heritage and resilience.
Dottie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hartwick College in Oneonta. A highlight of her academic career was being inducted into the college’s distinguished “Elite Nursing Group” at graduation. She furthered her education at Columbia University in New York City, where she trained as a nurse and collected stories from hospital life that she would fondly share for years to come.
A passionate New York Yankees fan, Dottie could recite the full starting lineup from memory season after season. Her love for baseball was just one reflection of her spirited and loyal nature.
Faith was the cornerstone of Dottie's life. Since 1977, she was a devoted member of Providence United Methodist Church, actively participating in her beloved Sunday School class. She also found deep connection and purpose in P.E.O., where she served faithfully as treasurer and considered her sisters in the organization to be her extended family.
Dottie was married for 69 years to the love of her life, Percival Richard Bradshaw, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2024. Together, they built a life filled with love, support, and joy. She is survived by their children: son Alan Bradshaw of New York City, and daughter Deborah Bradshaw Bartley, son-in-law Kevin Bartley, and grandson Ryan Bartley, all of Fort Myers, FL.
A celebration of Dottie’s life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Providence United Methodist Church, Charlotte, NC.
